This tour is designed to immerse you in the beauty of Morocco, from its vibrant cities to its remote villages, offering an authentic experience filled with history, culture, and adventure.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Our adventure begins in Marrakech, where we depart early in the morning towards the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m). Along the way, we stop at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its well-preserved kasbahs and as a backdrop for Hollywood movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
After exploring Ait Ben Haddou, we continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara” and home to the famous Atlas Film Studios. We visit the Taourirt Kasbah, a historic fortress that offers a glimpse into the traditional Moroccan way of life.
Our journey proceeds through the Valley of Roses, where the scent of blooming roses fills the air (April and May are the best months to witness the harvest). By late afternoon, we reach Dades Valley, where we check into a charming riad or kasbah and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
After breakfast, we set off through the picturesque Dades Gorges, admiring the striking rock formations and Berber villages nestled along the valley. Our next destination is the Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon with towering cliffs reaching heights of up to 300 meters. We take a break to explore the gorge, perfect for a short hike or to simply soak in the dramatic scenery.
By midday, we continue our journey towards the Sahara Desert, passing through the town of Erfoud, known for its fossils and date markets. Upon reaching Merzouga, we switch to camelback and embark on a mesmerizing ride through the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, one of Morocco’s most iconic landscapes.
As the sun sets over the dunes, we arrive at our luxury desert camp, where a warm Berber welcome awaits. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by an evening of drumming and storytelling around the campfire. Spend the night in a comfortable desert tent, experiencing the magic of the Sahara.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Midelt
Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara, a moment that will stay with you forever. After a hearty breakfast, we ride camels back to Merzouga and continue our journey towards Rissani, the birthplace of Morocco’s ruling dynasty. Here, we explore the traditional souk, known for its spices, jewelry, and leather goods.
Driving north, we pass through the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis filled with thousands of date palms, and stop for panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. We continue towards Midelt, a small town nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where we spend the night in a cozy guesthouse and enjoy a delicious Moroccan meal.
Day 4: Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes
On the final day of our journey, we traverse the scenic Middle Atlas region, passing through Cedar Forests near Azrou, home to Barbary macaques. Here, we take a break to observe these fascinating primates in their natural habitat.
Next, we visit Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style architecture and clean, well-maintained streets. This charming town offers a refreshing contrast to the desert landscapes we have encountered so far.
By afternoon, we arrive in Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital. Our tour concludes as we drop you off at your accommodation, leaving you with unforgettable memories of an extraordinary journey through Morocco’s most stunning landscapes.
